
The Triplicane Cultural Academy

In accordance with the general desire of the residents of Triplicane locality the Triplicane Cultural Academy was formed in March 1953 with Sri.T.M.Narayanaswami Pillai, M.L.C. and Vice-Chancellor, Annamalai University as its President.

The main objective of the Academy is to function as An Intellectual Forum thus serving as a bridge of understanding among the citizens of Chennai and elsewhere spreading enlightenment and culture in their varied aspects and providing an opportunity to develop a dispassionate approach to the problems facing the country and eschew all narrowness of outlook.

The Academy was formally inaugurated by H.E. Shri Sri Prakasa, the then Governor of Madras on the 30th April 1953 at the Museum Theatre, Madras.

Since then the Academy is making significant strides through its sustained activities without swerving from its chosen objectives. Besides the laurels the Academy has earned in its long Cultural march, this institution is reckoned as a shining star in the cultural firmament of not only in Triplicane but also Chennai city at large.
